Soputan, one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, entered Sunday eruption, projecting a cloud of ash and smoke at 5,000 meters altitude, without causing casualties, said a scientist who dealing with this observation.
Located in North Sulawesi province, 1783 meters high volcano began erupting ash and smoke in the morning, the first was the 2008 eruption.
Surrounded by forests, Soputan is eight kilometers away from the first village, "for now, is a safe distance for people," said the scientist Iing Kusnadi, adding that volcanic activity continues to be monitored.
Eruption in 2008 caused no casualties.
Indonesian archipelago, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, 129 volcanoes are in the business, of which 21 only on the island of Java.
