Unreal Engine 3 graphics engine for about five years old, was used to demonstrate the graphics processing power of next generation mobile platforms, Nvidia Tegra 2 and iPhone 3G. But Tegra 3, code-named Kal-El, the future mobile platform from Nvidia, needs a test to prove more difficult.
So nVidia introduced at Computex 2011 March Tegra prototype device that seamlessly play the game Lost Planet 2. It uses the engine MT Framework 2.0 and its minimum requirements for PC and dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 13 GB free on HDD, and GeForce 7800 or Radeon HD 2400Pro 256MB memory.
And Tegra 3 includes a quad core ARM CPU, GPU and 12 Unified Shaders. So is doing more than reasonable. This platform is built on NVIDIA's 40 nm process technology, and will be ready as early as August this year 2011. But if integrators will use it, and how fast, is another story.
