Tegra 2 over Oak Trail in Android OS

Nvidia Tegra 2 platform has managed to impose on the Tablet PC market, and began timidly to make an appearance in smartphones. It is built around a dual core ARM CPU at 1GHz, GPU performance and low power DDR2 memory. Intel wanted to enter this new market when it launched Atom processor.

But their high electrical consumption prevented the initiative. But the offensive continues, the Z650 and Z670 models launched in spring, core-core single Lincroft, along with the SM35 chipset Oak Trail up the platform, specially designed for tablet PCs. But to overlook the fact that there are far more expensive (about three times) than the ARM competitors.

These are all x86 processors. And slowly they are borne by manufacturers and mobile operating systems, focus so far on the ARM architecture. However the latest version of Google Android, Honeycomb (3.0), designed for tablet PCs, x86 compatible though, is far from finished in this direction.

Certainly this is the explanation for a Tablet PC platform developed around Oak Trail, Atom Z670 processor at 1.66 GHz with 512 KB L2 cache and Hyper-Threading Android moves much worse than one with two Tegra platform. At least it is clear from a comparison of observed at Computex, Motorola xoom were between one tablet (Tegra 2), and one Intel Marco Polo 2 (Atom Z670).
