E36: From four to six cylinders
At first glance, the second generation (E36) Bavarian model performance does not seem as great as its predecessor. Wing extensions and trunk spoiler was removed permanently, the new BMW M3 standing out in a very good look a little different compared with the standard version. Sea change take place but under the hood, where E36 M3 hide first six-cylinder engine, 3.0 liters and 286 horsepower. Just one year after launching the model propeller was replaced with a larger and more-May-powerful I6, which boasts no less than 3.2 liters and 321 horsepower.
But more importantly than that, customers are enjoying more choice than ever: from the Bavarians BMW offered no less than three different body styles - the sedan, the coupe and convertible, while the list of equipment included for the first six-speed SMG transmission time. Built between 1994 - 1999, the second generation BMW M3 fantastic counted a total of over 71,000 copies, proving that the public prefers a combination luxury / performance at the expense of pure sportiness.
